Production Manager

PRIMARY PURPOSE OF THE POSITION

To manage and improve production and site efficiencies and maintain personnel discipline.

KEY FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Operational:

  • Performing of operational planning and the timeous communication thereof.
  • Ensure the smooth running of operations.
  • Stock control (packaging material) in accordance with Company policies and procedures.
  • Co-ordinating with other plants to ensure optimal capacity.
  • Determine how and when to pack (product demand).
  • Ensure equipment is functional and managed in accordance with Company policies and procedures.
  • Ensure good housekeeping.
  • Effectively participate in strategic planning to ensure optimum production.
  • Ensure health and safety standards are adhered to in accordance with Company policies and procedures.
  • Ensure optimal production/budget.
  • Ordering of raw material, sugar and treacle.

Staff Management:

  • Ensure training and development as per ISO standards.
  • Ensure new employee enrolment in accordance with Company standards. Appointments in accordance with relevant laws and Company procedures.
  • Ensure high level of performance.
  • Initiating disciplinary enquiries, handling of grievances and the output of all staff. Provides guidance as required.
  • Ensure compliance to Company standards and procedures.
  • Supervise staff to ensure good quality of work.
  • Ensure good human resources practices.
  • Communicate performance requirements timeously with staff.
  • Ensure productivity and efficiency of staff performance.
  • Ensure staffing shifts and overtime falls within budget.
  • Analyses timesheets.

Financial:

  • Accurate drafting and timeous submission of annual budget.
  • Controlling of budget with minimal variance between budgeted amounts and actual amounts.
  • Ensure budget meets operational requirements.
  • Being responsible for buying of equipment for department.
  • Adhering to Company policies and procedures at all times.

Administration:

  • Being responsible for accurate production reporting.
  • Being responsible for accurate personnel administration.
  • Compliance with Company standards and requirements regarding administration practices.
  • Timeous submission of documentation as required.
  • Submit sugar deliveries into Accpac.

Quality and Hygiene Control:

  • Ensure good systems are in place for good quality and hygiene measures.
  • Provision of acceptable hygiene.
  • Compliance with ISO standards.
  • Compliance with Company standards.
  • Compliance with statutory requirements.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS FOR THIS POSITION:

  • Grade 12 (NQF4).
  • National Higher Diploma (NQF6) / National Higher Certificate (NQF5) in Technical discipline.
  • Management Development Programme qualification would be advantages
  • 10 Years’ relevant experience in production environment with 3 - 5 years’ experience in a supervisory position.

OTHER

  • Technical background will be an added advantage.
  • Proficient in written and spoken English.
  • Computer literate with a good mastering of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Namibian Citizenship.
  • Should be able to work overtime when requested.
