On the 6th of February; Top Score the leading Maize Meal brand of Namib Mills officially kicked off the 7-A-Side Soccer Tournament at the launch held at Ramblers sports fields in Pioneerspark.

The aim of the tournament is to encourage companies to use this popular social event as a team building initiative as well as an opportunity to get their employees to participate in these friendly games with the aim of boosting staff morale. The tournament spans seventeen years and in 2017 saw over seventy teams from various companies and other small businesses enter to compete in the tournament.

For Namib Mills the Top Score 7-A-Side tournament is aimed at community upliftment and engagement, it is the company’s way of rewarding those dedicated and disciplined sportsman who continue to support the tournament.

Speaking at the launch Marne Bouwer, Brand Manager of Namib Mills stated that; “Good players inspire themselves but great players inspire others, this tournament teaches the important quality of teamwork and supporting one another. It is a platform to get to know your colleagues better, to build relationships and to have some fun.”

Namib Mills is committed to Namibia, and the Top Score 7-A-Side is a flagship initiative that aids the company in investing back into the community.

The Top Score 7-A- Side tournament is a collaborative venture with Ramblers sports club and has been growing steadily over the past sixteen years. The value of the total investment into the tournament is one hundred twenty-six thousand and one hundred Namibian dollars (N$126 100) with Ramblers receiving twenty-eight thousand Namibian Dollars (N$ 28 000) as the administrators of the event.

Expanding this tournament across the country has proved to be a great success as the tournament saw a series of successful games played last year in Ongwediva and Swakopmund.

Supporting fans and family can look forward to another exciting tournament, with jumping castles for the kids and music to keep the momentum going; bring your camping chair and come and join these teams as they showcase their expertise and talents.

The games will take place in the evenings at Ramblers sports fields in Pioneerspark. Matches will kick-off Friday evening the 9th of February 2018 from 18h30 and on Saturday afternoons from 13h30.

 

 

Over seventy teams from various corporates and other businesses have entered to compete in the tournament.

Prize money for the winning team consists of N$ 13 000 for the winners, N$ 8000, for the runner-up; N$ 6 500 for the third place, and then for fourth place; N$3000 Namibian dollars.
